Adventures in Potty Training
We started potty training Zerrin on Sunday. My friend Amy had suggested a book called "Toilet Training in Less Than a Day." She used it and had great success toilet training her 2 year old daughter in just 4 hours. I was excited. If I could get this dreaded task done in just one day, I'd throw myself a party! So I read it. I thought it sounded plausible. I thought I was ready to tackle this monumental task of potty training my child in approximately 4 hours. It didn't work. Bless you Amy; you are a miracle worker...but alas, I don't have a photographic memory to remember all those steps. Anyway...we didn't get it done in one day, but we're making good progress. So, I have stayed home with the children for 3 days straight...going at this potty training thing the old fashioned way...taking the kids to the potty every half hour or so. We've had our share of accidents, but all in all, I think we're doing pretty well. So tonight, Daddy came home from work and wanted to go to dinner. I was desperate to get out of the house having been couped up in the house for three days. So we went to Chili's. I packed extra underwear and shorts for Zerrin. (Brynne opted for a diaper, and I am okay with that, although she's making progress too.) We took Zerrin to the potty before we left. We took Zerrin to the potty as soon as we got there and we took him to the potty right before we left. Outside of Chili's there are a few large rocks the kids like to climb on and play for awhile after we leave. We're sitting there, the kids are playing and then Zerrin starts grabbing his crotch. So I tell him, "Hurry, let's go to the potty!" So we start heading back into Chili's and he stops at the door, pulling at his shorts. Suddenly, a giant turd falls out of his pants...right at the front door of Chili's. I had come prepared with extra underwear and shorts, but not a pooper scooper and a doggie bag. So I grabbed a wet wipe out of my bag, and picked up the turd. Not my finest moment. Luckily, I don't think anybody noticed, so we put the poo in the garbage and took him to the bathroom to clean him up and change his clothes. I just had to laugh to keep from crying. Hope you had a good laugh, too.

Oh my gosh! That is hilarious! I'm sure no one noticed - and if they did, they were nice not to say anything.
I'm no miracle worker - I had the book by my side the whole morning and actually read some of the 'script' right from the book. I'm glad you are making progress!
Alicia,
That is so dang funny. Good luck with the potty training, we are working on that with Macey too. I'd love to have her out of diapers before Sophie comes into them in a few weeks. Have Fun!!
OH MY! That is just to funy! I would have just died right there at chilis. Good luck.
Sam was trained in a week by the pre-K teacher @ 3 yr old. Dallin just trained himself at 26 mths. We are done with diaper durning the day time. Dallin wears one to bed and that is it.
Good luck!!
Totally something my kids would do! Glad you're having so much success!
