Okinawa, Japan!
For those of you who don't know where that is, it's a little tropical island located south west of mainland Japan, probably a little closer to China than Japan. Everyone that has gone there has absolutely loved it. We're really looking forward to this opportunity of a lifetime. We'll be stationed over there for 3 years, so anybody who wants to come visit, start saving your money now. :) That is obviously one of the negatives about going there. We won't be able to see our families as often as we have in the past, but we do hope some of them take this opportunity to come see a place they would probably never see otherwise. I know Japan is not on most peoples' list of places they "must see" in their lifetime. It wasn't on mine. And now I'm going to live there! Scary!
I admit, I'm a little nervous about getting there. Traveling across the world with two young children does not excite me. Not seeing family for a year or so between visits does not excite me. Moving in general does not excite me. Typhoon season does not excite me. having to leave behind most of my possessions does not excite me. What I am excited for is seeing a new country and culture, getting down to the basics of life...there won't be any Walmart or Target for me to mindlessly shop and buy things I really don't need. Having my kids be old enough to actually remember this adventure is what excites me. I've heard that the people there are fantastic and the people on base become your family, it's a really tight-knit group of people that I look forward to meeting.
Like I said, we won't be moving until September. We'll be taking time off before we go to come home to Utah and see people and make preparations for the big move. There is a lot of planning that must take place. And that's what I need to start thinking about now. Time to clear out all the non-essentials...

It's an experience your family will never forget.....and the time will fly by, before you know it you will be back in the states! We will have to plan a big going away party when you are in Utah!! Let me know when it gets closer, so we can plan something. Love Ya!!
I'd love to let you know when we're in town, Anonymous, but I don't know who you are!:) I'm guessing Valarie, cuz you're the party animal. :)
